Awarded a Silver Dome for my report titled "The Hidden Risks of Firefighting". I did an extensive report on how the number one killer for firefighters is not fire, but heart attacks. I followed a major study with UL Laboratories that was testing firefighters with a controlled burn to see what may be the reason so many of them die of heart attacks as well as cancer.
My second place story was called "The Bully Test" and it looked into the lives of children who are bullied, and put them to the test to see what they would do if they saw someone being bullied.
Best Investigative Report: 2nd & 3rd Place
I was awarded second and third place for my investigations into nursing home neglect in the state-line, and for another investigation into questionable pay to a Freeport City attorney.

My story titled "Dodging Danger" was awarded the Silver Dome from IBA. It was about the risky behavior of school children dodging traffic outside of their school once class is dismissed, and why there is no crossing guards or school zone signs in the area of that risky behavior.

WREX was awarded for our comprehensive coverage of the opioid epidemic. We are the smallest market in our chapter which goes up against Chicago, Milwaukee, Green Bay and Madison. It’s quite an accomplishment to win in such a competitive pool of candidates.

Best Anchor Nominee
I was nominated for an Emmy for Best Anchor in the Chicago area. I was among nearly a dozen submissions and one of four people nominated.

Top 40 Leaders Under 40
I was chosen as one of Rockford's top 40 leaders under the age of 40 by the Rockford Chamber of Commerce. More than 100 people were nominated by members of the community but only 40 were awarded. I was told I was nominated because of how active I am in the community with volunteering and emceeing events. I volunteer more than 100 hours a year and am active in events throughout the community on a regular basis.

Edward R. Murrow Award: Investigative Reporting
I won the Edward R. Murrow Award for my story about Rock River Academy in Rockford. It was an investigation into misconduct and abuse at the facility. I uncovered cases of rape, sodomy and violent assaults. Shortly after my 3-part series piece ran, the facility decided to close.
