I've been baking for years. Actually, it's hard for me to remember when I did not bake! The scent of Thanksgiving comes to mind when I recall my mom handing leftover pie crust dough to any of us who hovered in the kitchen. She rolled out all her dough for her crusts, and those little slivers that she cut off the edges were handed to any of her children who wanted them. That was a treat and a special time in the kitchen with my mom. Her decadent chocolate pound cake and chocolate browned butter icing cookies are still a holiday tradition in our home today.

One by one... by one by one by one (is that five?!) my children were born and I was so happy to be able to be home with them. Although I enjoyed the time with each of them, I longed to do something that fostered my creativity.

What did I love? Baking! Always have.

Perfect. A cake business was born! Oh, how I loved it! Children's birthdays, communions, baby showers, adult birthdays and graduations--it was a wonderful outlet for me. That little business of mine continued for several years until we picked up our family and moved. Now I've come full circle. Back at it again, because I simply love to bake.
